2003 NESCC Pro Class and Open challenge. Pro Class It is the intent of the NESCC Pro Class to attract top level talent to NESCC events by giving them better competition and a financial incentive. Additionally, Pro vs. open classes are intended to fulfill the same rolls as open vs. novice classes in some other programs. Anybody who chooses to may compete in the Pro Class and nobody is required to. Only the first 3 runs of Pro class plus the elimination round count for the competition. The best of first 3 runs will be scored using RTP/PAX factors with the top 8 drivers qualifying for the challenge round. The Pro Class winners will be determined by the challenge round. Pro Class contingency awards for SCCA members are as follows: 1st - $50 2nd - $30, minumum of 4 Pro class competitors 3rd - $20, minimum of 7 Pro class competitors 4th - A pat on the back Contingency for non-members will be half that of members. Any afternoon rounds will not be scored for Pro class competiors. Open Challenge The top 8 open class leaders, determined by PAX time of best morning run, will qualify for the open class challenge round. The open class challenge round will not effect open class scoring and any afternoon runs will count toward final class position. Open Class contingency awards for SCCA members are as follows: 1st - A hug from Jocelyn 2nd - A pat on the back 3rd - Squat 4th - Bupcus Contingency for non-members will be half that of members. Challenge operation There will be two challenge heats following the morning runs, one for the Pro Class and one for the Open Challenge. Challenge rounds will be run between morning and afternoon heats, typically after a lunch break if there is one. The Open Challenge will be run before the Pro Challenge. Initial pairing for challenge is based on qualifying as follows: 5th : 4th 6th : 3rd 7th : 2nd 8th : 1st The rational is that the "pole sitter" has the advantage of running against the "outside back row". The outside back row must run against the "pole sitter" with the same analogy run down the line. Each pair is run with the lower qualifying driver going first and then scored using RTP/PAX factors. The looser is either eliminated (first round) or bumped down.
